Why Spiritual Gifts and Small Groups Ministries?

Small groups are biblically based and have their foundation in scripture. Church life for newly baptized members and the spirit filled church in Acts 2. Believers were devoted to the apostles teaching, loving, caring, sharing, and nurturing. They also broke bread and prayed together. Prayer bonds members together, strengthens for daily life, and empowers the Holy Spirit to bless each other.

Every known tongue was represented by those assembled. The Holy Spirit did for them what they could not do. From this time forth the language of the disciples was pure simple, accurate, whether they spoke in their native tongue or a foreign language. Acts of the Apostles p39-40. Known as the former rain, we need this and the latter rain to accomplish our mission here on earth.

Do the many Spiritual gifts given in those times beginning with Pentecost apply to us today? “So, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God, and having favor with the all the people. And the Lord added daily those who were being saved.”
Acts 46-47.

With the completion of our Spiritual gifts assessment and finding our prominent and lesser gifts we can move forward in its application within the church as Small Groups. A Small Group is an intentional face-to-face gathering of 3 to 12 people meeting on a regular schedule, with the common purpose of developing relationships, meeting felt needs of group members, growing spiritually, and laying plans to lead others to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior in their lives. This includes sharing, Bible study, prayer, and mission. Sharing includes developing friendships, loving, and caring. Bible study includes learning. Prayer is seeking God’s power in all aspects of group life. Mission is outreach to others. Are people today searching for a place to belong? Then let’s meet that need.

Should everyone be a part of Small Group? Probably, it might do well to do so, and for us study again Acts 2. In the times we currently living, with restrictions, and the coming of a time of trouble such as never was, we need the support of Christ's Love and of each other’s love. Only through Christ and His atoning sacrifice will we be able to overcome those things that is to come.
